Ahmed Sirour The B’Earthday Boy Collection

                               

I love to hear artists who have their own take on music. The originality of how they put it all together is mind blowing. I can’t believe Ahmed Sirour, this guy is awesome. This composer, arranger, producer, sound engineer from Brooklyn, New York is a self-taught musician and a gift to the music universe. I say this because his remixes and mash ups of songs like, "Always Get Away" - Lenora Jaye, "Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson, "Brazilian Skies" - Bill Summers, "Eleanor Rigby" - The Beatles, "Family Affair" - Sly & The Family, "Love Wicki Like This" - The Fatback Band &Faith Evans and "The Funky Keyboardist" - Clyde Stubblefield/James Brown is pure genius. Ahmed can put out a series of singles and albums. Some are Jazzy, Funky instrumentals, poetry and some have singers on there that can truly sing no auto-tunes anywhere. Singers like Yvette Rovira, Yahzarah, Lenora Jaye and Michelle Thompson. Ahmed Sirour in my opinion is one amazing musician that no doubt will be going on my play list. DJ INC & the Soul People

After listening to DJ INC & the Soul People’s song “Bubbs to do List” on Streetwise Radio, I knew I had to hear more. Their sound is pure harmony! The musicianship is fantastic. These Chicagoans with their pulse on a variety of music styles has been doing their thing for over a decade. I like their music because of the jazz, acid jazz, hip hop, house/dance, dancehall, soul, neo soul and Brazilian styles. It makes for an amazing trap sound. While listening to the CD “The Afterset Session, Volume 2,” I knew DJ INC and the Soul People’s songs were going on my playlist. Keni Burke

I grew up in the era of the true soul singer and the real deal R&B musicians. Keni Burke happens to be one of those singer musicians. Keni Burke’s music is the kind of music you would hear back in at the day. You would go to a party or club and just dance and have fun with your peeps. This 59 year old singer, songwriter, record producer, pianist, keyboardist and bass guitarist used to be a member of the Five Stairsteps a group from Chicago, Illinois. The groups biggest hit was and still one of my all-time favorite songs "O-o-h Child". In 1977, he released his self-titled debut album, which featured the songs "Keep on Singing", "Shuffle", and "From Me to You". This talented artist was so underrated. Keni Burke has put his skills as a guitarist and bassist to work. He has played with some major artist of our time like, Sly & the Family Stone, Natalie Cole, Billy Preston, Terry Callier, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Dusty Springfield, Diana Ross, and Gladys Knight. I like Keni Burke’s music it is feel good music it has a mix of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, Smooth Jazz. Some songs that are going on my playlist are “Risin' To The Top”, “Never Stop Loving Me”, “Who Do You Love”, “From Us to You and One Minute More”. Sabrina Starke “Outside The Box”

Sabrina Starke is another underrated singer/songwriter from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Sabrina was born on August 9, 1979. Sabrina Starke is another artist that I’ve never heard of, until DJ Michael Ealey of started playing her music on Streetwise Internet Radio. When I heard “Backseat Driver” and “Toss Me A Dreamer” I had to listen to more of her songs. I’m so happy I did, she has an amazing Reggae, Soul, Hip-Hop, Jazz, voice! Sabrina released her debut album, Yellow Brick Road on October 1, 2008. Her first single from the album, "Do For Love" was a hit song in The Netherlands. Sabrina signed to Blue Note records on October 27, 2008. In 2008 Sabrina won the Edison Award Best Newcomer. Blue Note re-released Yellow Brick Road on March 9, 2009. The album went gold in The Netherlands. “Bags & Suitcases” was Sabrina’s second album which in my opinion was another good album from this talented singer/ songwriter. Sabrina released her third album “Outside The Box” on June 1, 2012. The songs I like are “This Time Around”, “Backseat Driver”, “Simplest Way”, “Toss Me A Dream”, “Sun Settle Down” and “I Cry”. You know it’s a great thing that there is Internet Radio. Without it we would not get to hear, all the talent from around the world. Jae Franklin embodies nearly the entire spectrum of soul
music, from Jazz to Afrobeat to Electronic Soul. Her soft and
sweet voice captivates fans quicker than her passionate and
moving lyricism. Seeking a range like Rachelle Ferrell, charm
like Sade, and a mind like Quincy Jones and Sting, Jae
exquisitely showcases her passion for music in each minute
of every performance and every song she writes.
Currently living in Atlanta, Jae is an international songstress that is continuously fusing her artistry with issues in today’s world. Through her global travels and research, she creatively merges the act of art for the sake of art and art for the sake of activism by using some of the most politically active records and tying them in with lyrics that represent a lot of social issues. She wants to push the boundaries and set a standard of how to successfully produce soul music while keeping her artistic integrity.
 The Houston-native began singing at an early age, like many well-known artists, in the church choir. Although she took piano lessons and voice lessons, Jae decided early-on she wanted to focus on singing. She attended High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, excelling in the study of voice and
theory. Jae was active at HSPVA, joining various choirs, ensembles and the theatrical group the Young Performers.
Working with the likes of award-winning songwriter and producer Bryan Michael Cox, composer Louis St.
Louis of the movie Grease, and songwriters and production teams for Tyler Perry, Donnell Jones and
Tamar Davis, Jae Franklin hopes to further expand so that her music can reach all walks of life. This is by
far one of the best years, which has given her the most imperative resources, musical direction, and spiritual guidance she has ever had. There isn’t a moment that passes in her life when she doesn’t think about how her music will affect the world.
